The art of discussion management

The moderator serves the needs of a group that is meeting for a common purpose, whether it is to make a decision, solve a problem, or simply exchange ideas and information. He or she does not lead the group, nor does he or she attempt to distract or entertain. His or her primary role is to guide the discussion and allow participants to break out of patterns of thinking to develop breakthrough solutions and ideas.
